Heather Harris was born and raised in the Cayman Islands to a Jamaican mother and British father. Her fascination with entertainment media began as a fine art and journalism student at NYU while interning in theatrical publicity for Lionsgate's The Hunger Games. Heather has since worked with various global entertainment labels in film and television: Viacom and subsidiaries Nickelodeon and BET, Color Force and StudioCanal during partnership with Blumhouse. After encouragement from her art professors, Heather went on to attend USC's School of Cinematic Arts where she studied directing and screenwriting as an MFA student. During this time she was selected as a BAFTA Newcomer Talent for directing. Heather is an avid painter and has also worked as a cinematographer for films that have gone onto NBCUniversal’s Short Film Showcase and the Berlin International Film Festival and subsequently nominated for the Teddy and Crystal Bear Awards. Heather's most recent directorial work was named in the Hollywood Reporter, shortlisted for PBS’ Fine Cut program and her talented team members were nominated by the American Society of Cinematographers and Motion Picture Sound Editors Guild for their work on the film. Heather is currently working on her first feature following screenplay mentorship from the Sundance Institute. While Heather works with darker themes in her films she loves children’s programming and aspires to use her abilities to benefit younger audiences in the future by creating her own animated network show for children.
